How it Works

  • 1. The LASIK Procedure Anesthetic drops are applied to the eye.
  • 2. A thin, protective layer of the cornea is lifted up and folded back. As this flap is created, you may feel a little pressure, but no discomfort.
  • 3. In most cases, less than 60 seconds are needed for the laser beam to remove microsciopic layers of tissue, reshaping the inner cornea. You simply look directly at a target light during this laser treatment. To treat nearsightedness, the cornea is made flatter. To treat farsightedness, the cornea is made steeper. In order to treat Astigmatism, the cornea is made more spherical.
  • 4. A thin, protective layer of the cornea is lifted up and folded back. As this flap is created, you may feel a little pressure, but no discomfort.
