Dr. Whitten is proud to have a long history of working closely with other eye doctors to achieve successful surgical results for their patients. Whether for Cataracts, Customized LASIK, PRK or Implantable Contact Lenses, ongoing follow-up with your personal eye doctor is extremely important for the best visual outcomes.

At your appointment, you will be asked if you have an eye doctor. If you don’t currently have an eye doctor, we will be glad to help you find if you choose. There are many highly skilled eye doctors and one that is sure to be located conveniently for you.

Dr. Whitten will communicate closely with your eye doctor, and you can rely on him or her to:

  • Provide any necessary eye history information
  • Perform pre-procedure testing as needed
  • Perform post-procedure follow-up care and communicate with Dr. Whitten about your progress

Periodic exams are required to monitor how well you are healing, protect against infection and measure your visual progress. Dr. Whitten recommends that everyone, regardless of eye surgery, have a routine eye exam performed by an eye doctor once a year.

“I have enjoyed co-managing patients with Dr. Whitten for over 10 years. My patients have all benefited from working with the two of us together. When considering an eye surgeon for my patients, Dr. Whitten is always my first choice.”

Jim Smeriglio, O.D., Clinical Director, TLC Vision
