Implantable Contact Lenses, or ICLs, are a vision correction option for patients. Dr. Whitten uses the Visian ICL™, one of the latest technological advancements in vision correction. This lens is surgically implanted behind the iris and in front of the natural lens to help those who suffer from nearsightedness or farsightedness. ICLs work similarly to glasses or contacts, but do so from inside your eye.
Quality of Vision – The Visian ICL produces not only improved visual acuity but also excellent visual quality. Patients experience an immediate improvement in the quality of their vision, just as with the LASIK procedure.
Simplicity – Unlike traditional contact lenses, once the Visian ICL is implanted in the eye, there is no additional maintenance needed.
Safety – After implantation in over 55,000 eyes worldwide, the Visian ICL has established a proven track record of safety.
Lens Placement – The placement of the Visian ICL makes the lens invisible to the patient and any observer.
Removable – The Visian ICL was designed to be permanently placed in the eye. However, the lens can be removed if a patient’s vision changes or if it otherwise needs to be removed or replaced.
ICLs are an effective vision correction option for those patients who are not good LASIK candidates. Dr. Whiten may suggest this as an option in the case of thin corneas or extreme nearsightedness. Talk with Dr. Whitten and the Whitten Laser Eye staff about special pricing and payment options.
